Each licence text is provided in /usr/share/doc/ (including /usr/share/doc/aura/ for emoji) and on each project's website. The source code of Ubuntu's free software is available from its source repositories.

Software offered by the Store

The Aura Store installs, at your request, free or free-of-charge software from other publishers, from their official sources (Ubuntu repositories, Flathub, GitHub, publishers' websites, official Docker images). When the publisher provides a checksum, Aura verifies it before installing. Each program remains its author's property under its own licence (for example Docker Engine, draw.io and BetterDiscord: Apache-2.0; Sonarr, Radarr, AdGuard Home, RetroArch, Live Captions: GPL-3.0; Jellyseerr, Gluetun, VSCodium, LocalSend: MIT; Immich, Standard Notes: AGPL-3.0).

Non-free software installed only at your request or for your hardware: the NVIDIA graphics driver (NVIDIA licence, installed from the Ubuntu repositories for cards that need it, for example on Microsoft Surface Studio), Discord and similar software. Their licence is their publisher's; Aura does not modify them.

Emulators come without any game or system file: only use games, BIOS and keys you legally own. Web links in the Launchpad lead to sites independent of Aura Linux, subject to their own terms.

Trademarks

Windows, Microsoft Edge, Microsoft 365, Surface and Fluent are trademarks of Microsoft. macOS and Apple are trademarks of Apple. ChromeOS, ChromeOS Flex, Android and Google Chrome are trademarks of Google. Opera is a trademark of Opera Norway AS. Ubuntu is a trademark of Canonical. NVIDIA and GeForce are trademarks of NVIDIA. Other names belong to their owners. Aura Linux is neither affiliated with nor endorsed by these companies. Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge and Opera are not supported: their installation is blocked out of the box on Aura Linux. Aura's styles are visually inspired by them without reusing their software; Apple's emoji, which are not under a free licence, are not provided.

Patent and protection of Aura

In France and Europe, software “as such” cannot be patented (article L611-10 of the French Intellectual Property Code). Aura Linux is protected by copyright, acquired automatically upon creation, in the name of Yohan Simon. The publisher may register the “Aura Linux” trademark and logo with INPI and make an e-Soleau filing (dated proof of creation). See the copyright ownership declaration.

Respect for everyone

Aura Linux is made for everyone, regardless of origin, skin colour, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, age or opinion. Content shipped with Aura Linux contains nothing that incites hatred, violence or discrimination; any such content is removed in the next version.

Each user also chooses what they do not want to see: a media filter, off by default and fully editable, is in Settings > Privacy > Media filter. A parental control, also off by default, helps protect minors: Settings > Privacy > Parental control. In line with French law no. 2022-300 of 2 March 2022, it is free and offered at the very first login. Account by account, it blocks app installation (Store, Android, Flatpak) and access to the apps chosen by the parent.

Warranty and liability

Aura Linux is provided free of charge, “as is”, without warranty, within the limits set by law. Details are in the terms of use and the licence. Remember to back up your files (Aura Backup tool).
